lAURA OAKES With Laura Oakes (2015-16) Creative Sounds UK were able to get her music featured on Bob Harris’s Radio 2 show, including the Best of 2015 alongside many signed artists, and she was subsequently chosen by Bob and his team to perform 2016’s Under The Apple Tree Roots Festival on 28 May 2016. In October 2015 she was awarded Female Vocalist of the Year category at the British Version of the CMA Music Awards in the UK. Laura was featured on BBC radio stations BBC Radio Norfolk, BBC Radio Lancashire, BBC Essex, BBC Cambridge, BBC Suffolk & BBC Radio Merseyside's Country Show, and appeared in session on Bob Harris's under the apple tree live session. You can watch it here We were able to secure many gigs for Laura up and down the country. One of these was a sold-out show at the Jazz Café at Time Out London Rising Stars of Country Music. Creative Sounds also helped set up a showcase for her EP launch at the Electric Carousel in Piccadilly. Following the success of her first EP Laura to appeared live on a number of radio shows including Chris Country, Amazing Radio’s Front Porch and on Billy Butler’s BBC Merseyside, as well as Bob Harris’s under the Apple Tree sessions. Laura played at both 2015 and 2016’s Country to Country Festival at the O2 Arena in London. This resulted in an overwhelming response to Laura's music as there were so many people in the crowd on the main stage in the Town Square watching her they had to cordon off the area. This happened even though Sam Hunt was playing at the same time. she was frequently asked to support touring artists in the North such as Andrew Combs, The Shires, Ward Thomas, Raintown, Dexeter, Sonia Leigh, Sasha McVeigh and she played a sold out show at the London Folk & Roots Festival supporting Colm Mac Con Lomaire, violinist, composer, founder member of The Frames. BWR Creative Sounds UK arranged a headline show for BWR at the Jazz Café. We also arranged a successful industry showcase gigs at Notting Hill Art’s Theatre, and Their EP launch at the Water rats. In 2015 the band were promoted in conjunction with SJM and Df Concerts, a 4 date UK tour in which BWR were due to support Brantley Gilbert with the final date at Shepherds Bush Empire. Following the success of ‘Guns’ the second single from the band’s Georgia Pine EP the band were selected by the Unsigned Music Awards to perform at their first ever Channel 4 televised Music Awards ceremony, hosted by Laura Whitmore (MTV) and Chris Stark R1 (The Scott Mills Show).
