Adeline Um

Adeline Um is a Korean American singer songwriter who started her music journey as a Berklee City Music scholar. She first started her songwriting career by writing her own indie-pop music and now also writes in the EDM/Deep House sphere as a topline songwriter. She has signed her music with independent labels such as Lowly Palace, LoudKult, Magic Music, Tribal Trap, Elysian Records, and AESTHETE and has received over 1 million plays on Soundcloud. She has been recognized by the Rolling Stone India and was recently played on BBC Introducing UK.

Here are some of her most notable performances. From her early days with Berklee City Music, she performed the National Anthem at Fenway Park and the TD Garden. She also performed at the Grammy museum in LA for artists such as Lalah Hathaway. This past October, she went on a Sofar Sounds Tour along the East Coast, her most notable performance at the House of Blues Chicago.

Adeline writes about real and vulnerable experiences, often with her mental health journey and day to day challenges. She connects with her audience by creating a platform that allows individuals to feel comfortable about sharing their own challenges too. The 24 year old graduated with an MA in Psychology and Social Anthropology from the University of St. Andrews and will graduate with an MRes in Anthropology and Art in '21. She is continuing to combine her love for people and culture with music. She is currently based in both Boston, USA and Scotland, UK.

“Close 2 Me” begins with a transient ebb and flow that manifests an overall sense of relaxation and comfort, and then grows and transports into a fun and funky dancehall beat. From there, the single builds steadily into the vocal rift from artist Adeline Um, which is entrancingly fantastic. The drop is groovy and sentimental, truly encompassing the impassioned inspiration for the single. - Noiseporn
Indian producer SubSpace collabs with Korean-American singer Adeline Um for an intriguing, buoyant new song called “Someone, Someday.” Brimming with hope, the song offers a sort of East-West fusion, with Um’s breathy vocal melodies tailor-made for EDM, which SubSpace delivers in familiar yet charged-up conviction. The two beat drops in the three-minute song bend synth patterns in a manner that’s reminiscent of Indian melodies, making it readily memorable. - The Rolling Stone India
